1984: CBS Presents ‘A Christmas Carol’

On this day in 1984, CBS presented an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas tale, A Christmas Carol, starring George C. Scott as Ebenezer Scrooge.
Considered by many — including TVWW’s David Bianculli — to be one of the best modern versions of the 1843 holiday novella, the telefilm featured a primarily British cast including David Warner and Susannah York as Bob and Mrs. Cratchit.
