On this day in 1990, ABC presented the telefilm Jekyll and Hyde, starring Michael Caine in the title roles. The film — a loose adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson novella The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde — co-starred Cheryl Ladd as Jekyll’s love interest, Sara, and Joss Ackland as her father (and father of Jekyll’s late wife), Dr. Charles Lanyon.
The film was written and directed by David Wickes, who directed Caine in the 1988 telefilm, Jack the Ripper. Caine received both a Golden Globe and Emmy best actor nomination for his performance.
