#AlternativeFacts Podcast: BØRNS Tells His Best L.A. Tales, Like Hanging With Halsey at Playboy Mansion
His silky-smooth sophomore LP ‘Blue Madonna’ dropped Jan. 12.
BØRNS leads a fully-charmed life.
It’s safe to say the 26-year-old troubadour is the pride of his native Grand Haven, Michigan, having made his way to the enchanted hills of Los Angeles, where he staked his claim to alt-pop glory. His first trip out — as a ukulele-wielding 18-year old — included a spur-of-the-moment performance for Max Martin and Britney Spears’ longtime manager, Larry Rudolph (it had to do with a lil’ viral cover). The years that followed brought a deal with Interscope Records and a pair of albums exploring that definitively left coast mystique.
Naturally, he’s got some stories. You know, like attending a Playboy Mansion party.
“It was kind of a crazy LSD trip, of what you’d think Alice In Wonderland would look like through a gentleman’s magazine,” BØRNS says of the recent bash. “[The theme was] Midsummer Night’s Dream, a big classic summertime Playboy Mansion hang. There were dancing tree people on stilts… I saw Halsey. She was like, ‘Hey whats up!’ I was like, what are doing here? “Oh you know, I’m gonna be on the cover.”
This week’s #AlternativeFacts podcast features all this storytelling and more from our man BØRNS: what it was like collaborating with Lana Del Rey on his new album, Blue Madonna, what it was like when Taylor Swift and her squad rocked out to his 2016 Coachella set, how he’s already working on new music, and what that new music sounds like.
“Anything that makes life more of a dance party I’m very much okay with,” he says. “Anything that grooves well, feels good to drive to — [I’m] trying to get more in that lane.”
Listen to the ‘cast below and you just might hear a top-secret vocal memo off his phone.
