Spears has struggled with emotional issues in the past. She was notoriously once photographed attacking a car with an umbrella following her 2007 divorce. The ‘Toxic’ singer also shaved her head in front of paparazzi during the rampage.
The news comes shortly after Britney took to Instagram to share a message which read: ‘Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit’. She captioned the pink text post: ‘We all need to take time for a little ‘me time.’ :)’
TMZ claims that Spears has had major two surgeries to correct major issues regarding his intestines and colon. He recently had the second procedure done but has still been suffering health complications.
A source told PEOPLE magazine that the singer checked into a facility for ‘all-encompassing wellness treatment’ so she could ‘focus on herself’.
‘Her dad being sick has taken a toll on her. He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He’s not doing well.
‘They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her – she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself,’ the source said.
Another source told US Magazine: ‘Britney was distraught when her dad first got sick,’ the insider explains.
‘Then there was a period where she was handling it better and feeling more positive because Jamie seemed to be improving, but then his condition worsened and she couldn’t emotionally handle the thought of potentially losing him.
‘It was her breaking point.’

Britney was last pictured with her father in October of last year on an outing in Los Angeles.
She said in a statement January 4 after her father suffered the ruptured colon: ‘I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family.
‘We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me.’
In 2008 Britney sought further treatment before being hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles due to being under the influence.
As a result, a judge ruled that her ex husband Kevin Federline have sole custody of their two young sons Sean and Jayden.
Shortly after, she was committed to the psychiatric ward of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and put on 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold.
The court then placed her under temporary – and later permanent – conservatorship of her father Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet, giving them complete control over her assets before she was released five days later.
