DC FanDome First Look To Air On The CW Next Week | Screen Rant
A new teaser for DC FanDome reveals that fans will get their first glance at the virtual event on The CW. Opting to skip this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. instead chose to organize their own online convention exclusively focusing on their DC projects. Set to take place on August 22, the one-day affair promises a lot of surprises for followers of the DC Multiverse.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced a string of blockbusters to be delayed and productions to be shut down, including DC projects both on the big and small screen. Given the way the disease spreads, physical gatherings remain to be highly discouraged, but Warner Bros. and DC took advantage of the situation. In coming up with a virtual event in FanDome not only do they have a farther reach, but it’s much easier to organize and assemble the many guests expected to appear.
As the date of the convention nears, marketing for it is ramping up. A brand new promo clip for it shared on Twitter by user @HOEOFSTEEL teases that the public’s first sneak peek at the event will available on The CW next Tuesday, August 18. Check out the teaser below:
Aside from the provided information about the upcoming FanDome promo, it’s also interesting that the teaser is leaning on the idea of the DC Multiverse. There’s no official word that Warner Bros. is striving to create with their version of the multiverse via their films and TV shows, although there’s a handful of clues pointing towards that. As an example, Ezra Miller’s Flash meeting Grant Gustin’s small screen version earlier this year on during Crisis on Infinite Earths was certainly which shocking. There’s also the DCEU’s separate branch of movies where Joker exists, not to mention Zack Snyder’s recent comments about his Justice League also falling outside the established interconnected canon. With DC highlighting the existence of their Multiverse in the video, it’s curious if that means that more crossovers are in the cards in their future, or if it’s solely just to advertise their event.
Fans will more likely learn about DC’s plans regarding their multiverse at the virtual affair. Warner Bros. has promised a string of sneak peeks at their upcoming films and shows, including high-profile movies like Wonder Woman: 1984, The Suicide Squad, and Snyder’s Justice League. They also shared that new films will be announced which is always exciting. That said, even if WB isn’t ready to lay out their whole blueprint just yet, learning more about their upcoming slate should be more than enough reason to check out DC FanDome later this month.
