‘I’m honest with them,’ she said during an episode of Dean McDermott’s Daddy Issues podcast with Adam Hunter and Nicky Paris on Wednesday.

‘They had heard that I was in Playboy. I didn’t even think that they would know what that is because now kids can go on the internet and see all kinds of things, so [I had] to explain that.’

The reality star added, ‘They don’t Google [me]. I don’t think they want to know certain things either. I wouldn’t want to read certain things about my parents.’

Many celebrities have posed for the cover of Playboy, including Cindy Crawford, Shannen Doherty, Sharon Stone, Bo Derek, Elle Macpherson, Drew Barrymore and Kim Kardashian.

In the same interview, Denise said Charlie Sheen wanted her to go broke.

They were wed from 2002 to 2006 and had two daughters together.

She has since found happiness with Aaron Phypers, 46, who she tied the knot with in September 2018.

Denise explained: ‘He said he wanted to bleed me dry, and he did. Those legal fees add up quite fast.’

She also admitted she turned to her first reality show Denise Richards: It’s Complicated for financial reasons.

The siren continued: ‘Back during the show I did at E!, I had to do that. I had too many legal bills with my ex-husband.’

Denise admitted that she wasn’t swimming in job offers at the time of the couple’s messy divorce.

She said: ‘It was difficult for me to get a job back then because I was perceived as doing something very [negative] with Charlie.

‘So that was very hard – when you’re misunderstood and you want to keep your personal life private and when it’s out there.’

Denise recently explained in an episode of RHOBH how the divorce affected their daughters Sam, 15, and Lola, 14.

She said: ‘My girls have been through a lot. How I chose to relate to the dysfunction that was going on with their father was to hide it from the kids.

‘I don’t know if I did a disservice or not… It just made me realize how fast it goes. Life is so short and their childhood is so short.’

In 2011, Denise adopted her third daughter Eloise, whom Phypers has recently adopted as well.

Charlie went through a public meltdown in 2011 – and she also revealed more details about one of his most shocking moments during the new interview.

Denise recalled an awkward family Thanksgiving years ago during which Charlie brought a prostitute along to dinner.

The TV star previously recounted the story on her reality series, but she added more details about her father’s reaction while appearing on the Daddy Issues podcast Wednesday.

She recounted how she ‘felt bad’ after Charlie left his date in the car when he first arrived.

‘He told me, ‘Hey, I want you to know so and so’s here, don’t worry she’s going to be in the car in the driveway while we eat dinner,” she said.  ‘I’m like, I cannot have her sitting in the driveway,’ she added.

Not wanting to reveal to her children that their guest was a prostitute, Denise and Charlie told the kids that the woman worked as an assistant for one of their other guests.

Denise’s father Irv Richards also was clueless as to the woman’s profession, though he sensed something was amiss as the evening progressed.

‘My dad was seated next to her and he came up to me while we were all talking and stuff and said, ‘I think there’s something not right with that woman,” she explained.

‘He said, ‘I keep trying to talk to her and she just doesn’t say anything and I’m being friendly, making conversation.’

‘I’m like, ‘Dad, dad, she’s a hooker, don’t ask her any questions.”

Her dad was initially shocked at the reveal, though Denise tried to tamp it down.

‘I said, ‘They don’t always dress in fishnets and lingerie, dad!”

Luckily, everyone managed to get along well enough for the day. ‘He was like, ‘That was nice of you to invite her in for dinner.”

At his lowest point, shortly after being fired by CBS and Warner Bros following his derogatory comments about Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre, Sheen had a highly publicized ‘meltdown’.

He made a string of bizarre statements in TV interviews, claiming he was a ‘warlock’ with ‘tiger blood’ and ‘Adonis DNA’, and that he was ‘winning’.

YouTube videos he posted showed him smoking cigarettes through his nose, and berating his former employers in surreal rants.

He said in one interview: ‘I’m tired of pretending I’m not special. I’m tired of pretending I’m not a total bitchin’ rock star from Mars.’

But Sheen says that that strange behavior is ‘absolutely’ in the past.

The star admits he’s now too ’embarrassed’ to watch the videos back.

‘I can’t even watch a video or anything that documented that whole moment in time,’ he exclusively told DailyMail TV.

‘I don’t really know what happened. I really don’t. I don’t even think it was about the show (Two and a Half Men). I think it was about just so many years of feeling frustrated about a lot of different stuff and it just kind of all came out at the wrong time.

‘But I can’t change it, I can’t be ruled by it, you know? I can’t beat myself up for it, it happened, all I can do is what I’m doing every day and just keep moving forward.’
