Jennifer Hudson channels ’50s chic as she films a scene for Aretha Franklin biopic Respect with costar Forest Whitaker

Jennifer Hudson has big shoes to fill as she takes on the role of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, in a new biopic about the star.

But one thing’s for sure, the actress certainly looked the part when she filmed scenes for the movie titled Respect on Friday.

The 38-year-old star was joined by Forest Whitaker, who plays Aretha’s father C. L. Franklin as the actors strolled through Washington Square Park in New York City

Hudson is pictured in a moss green coat with fur collar along with an olive green pillbox hat and matching kitten heels, gloves and a small purse.

The duo strolled together bundled up against the chill.

Whitaker, 58, wore a long coat, smart blue pants and a fedora.

The singer and actress fully transforms into the Queen Of Soul in the first teaser for the film released in December.

Hudson is seen in a glittering gold gown as she takes the mic and belts out ‘What you want baby I got it’ in front of an empty auditorium.
