Meghan Markle Banishes Harry’s Friends, Earns Cruel Nickname From Palace Staff [Report]
Another day, another slew of derogatory reports about the Duchess of Sussex issuing forth from the stinking maw of the British tabloid press.
They’re really playing their greatest hits today, folks.
Claims that Meghan has ruined Harry’s life by accepting his proposal and carrying his child? You got ’em!
Anonymous sources complaining that Meghan is too “American” or “ambitious”? You betcha!
The continuation of a sustained campaign to denigrate a mixed-race pregnant woman, spearheaded by doughy “traditionalists” more concerned with the purity of their precious figurehead institutions than with basic human decency?
Hey, don’t let anyone tell you that Trump-supporting Americans are the only ones dressing up their racism with a whole bunch of fancy nonsense.
Today, one of Meg’s biggest bullies, The Daily Mail, continued to pummel the duchess’ reputation, while a new antagonist who’s usually above this sort of thing decided to enter the fracas.
Today’s stories started with a scathing report from Tatler, which, to be fair, is a genuinely reputable publication, and it usually runs stories that don’t sound like embittered fan fiction straight from the fevered imagination of Piers Morgan.
Of course, the DM has been going wild with this story, and there’s reason to question the objectivity of Tatler‘s sources, but we’ll get to that later.
Citing a source who spoke to Tatler, the DM reported on Monday that Meghan has been saddled with “another unflattering nickname,” in addition to the eye-rollingly lame “Duchess Difficult.”
“Meghan has seen nothing like that – even though staff at Kensington Palace are now calling her “Me-Gain,”’ says an anonymous insider.
This is one of those stories we hope is made up, not because we’re concerned Meg can’t handle herself among back-biting staffers, but because it’s depressing to imagine a bunch of grown-ups being excited about such a first-draft nickname.
And why is the staff so outraged that they’re holding secret nickname-planning meetings under cover of darkness?
Well, apparently Meg has been especially “difficult” as of late, even going so far as to “freeze out” some of Harry’s best and oldest friends, such as Tom ‘Skippy’ Inskip.
Tatler claims Inskip advised Harry against marrying Meghan and was consequently “banished” by Duchess Meg.
But Meg’s biggest alleged affront is her treatment of Kate Middleton.
Tatler‘s sources say Meghan started the feud with Kate by being brusque with her future-sister-in-law during the wedding planning process.
And who are these sources who seem to know so much about what happens behind the scenes in the royal family.
Well, they’re probably Kensington Palace staffers — who are loyal to William and Kate.
The Sussexes recently decided to divide up their offices from the Cambridges — a decision that reportedly didn’t sit well with many staffers.
And that, folks, is how you end up with reputable outlets reporting such drivel.
Tatler is relying on real sources — those sources are just openly biased.
