Mighty Morphin Power Rangers actor Robert Axelrod, who voiced the villainous Lord Zedd, has died at age 70 in Los Angeles.

His agent released a statement Sunday: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we write that client, Robert “Bob” Axelrod passed away yesterday in Los Angeles at the age of 70.’

Fans are showing their support this weekend for the actor behind the iconic role.

Known as a guitarist in the ’70s, he transitioned to voice acting in the ’80s, having contributed to the creation of over 150 characters. 

He was most known for voicing Zedd in the 1993 children’s action series, as well as several subsequent spin-offs.

The statement continued: ‘Robert enjoyed meeting his fans and inspiring them to follow their passions. 

‘His beautiful and kindred soul will never be forgotten and we take comfort in knowing his memory will live on in all those he inspired, met and knew.’

He was a fan favorite for many who watched the show in the ’90s, as well as those who’ve attended some of the many conventions worldwide. 

The actor was trending on Twitter, following news of his passing, as many fans, friends and industry peers took to social media to pay tribute. 

Through the years, he also voiced characters in Digimon, Ghost in the Shell and Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

As an actor, he had roles in Family Matters, the 1988 remake of The Blob and Michael Jackson’s Stranger In Moscow music video.

He also wrote 54 episodes of the American animed adaptation Samurai Pizza Cats.
