Olivia Munn reveals that Brett Ratner called her prior to his Howard Stern apology and claimed his false statements about being intimate with her were ‘just a joke’

Olivia Munn opened up about a never before told story of a phone call she had with Brett Ratner, after she had accused him of sexual misconduct.

The 38-year-old revealed the story on stage as she joined a panel discussion at the Emily’s List pre-Oscars brunch at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills Tuesday morning, according to Variety.

Back in 2011, Ratner had denied claims of harassment alleged by the actress and erroneously insisted he had ‘banged her’ and ‘forgot,’ later apologizing for the lie on Howard Stern.

Shortly before his half hearted mea culpa on Stern, the Newsroom star said she received an unsolicited call from Ratner.

‘I’ve never told any of this story publicly, I’m in my hotel room in New York,’ Munn said from the dais, ‘And I get this Caller ID blocked number, and I answer the phone and it’s Brett.’

Olivia recalled Brett saying he was ‘just joking about’ his claims he had had sex with her and forgotten.

Those statements were in response to Munn accusing Ratner of masturbating in front of her.

CNN host and journalist Lisa Ling moderated the panel with Munn along with Amber Tamblyn, Melissa Fumero and Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx.

Munn recollected Ratner as saying: ‘It’s just a joke and it got blown out of proportion.’

‘He said, “Well look, we did date though, right?” and I said, “No.” And he’s like, “Are you sure we didn’t date?” And at this point, I had this feeling that he was recording the conversation,’ she explained.

The actress assured the disgraced producer that they never dated and, according to Olivia, he apologized and asked her to tweet that he said he was sorry on his behalf.

According to Variety, Munn told the crowd that she refused and then accepted Ratner’s offer to make the public apology on Howard Stern the following day.

‘I remember this feeling that that was it, that was the ring I could grab onto,’ she  explained.

During a phone interview on Stern, Ratner’s apology was deemed by many as pathetic.

While he admitted to lying about his tryst with the actress, he simply said his statements ‘made her look like a w***e.

Munn recalled that during their brief phone conversation she told the filmmaker: ‘The moment you came after me, you came under my rule. And this isn’t going to be your moment in your world, this is going to be my moment in my world. And in my world, guys like you go home crying.’

'I remember this feeling that that was it, that was the ring I could grab onto,' she explained.
