Royals to Meghan Markle: Behave Yourself on Instagram … Or Else!
Another day, another story about the alleged tension between Meghan Markle and her royal in-laws!
As you may have heard, Meghan and Prince Harry joined Instagram this week, and the response from fans was swift and overwhelming.
The @sussexroyal account has racked up an astonishing 3.9 million followers in its first three days.
That ought to silence the Meg-haters who insist the Diva Duchess will never connect with the people, eh?
(Just kidding, those people will literally never shut up.)
Harry and Meghan have only created five posts so far, and the stated goal of their page is to call attention to their philanthropic goals:
“‘Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues.
“We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.’- Harry & Meghan,” reads the couple’s first post.
But despite these magnanimous intentions, Harry and Meghan’s account has already attracted controversy.
For one, there have been accusations that the couple hijacked the Instagram handle of some random driving instructor from London.
We’re sure that bloke is upset about losing his 200 followers or whatever, but it’s important to keep things in perspective.
After all, it wasn’t all that long ago that this same family would just tear your house down because they needed the wood for a drawbridge.
Anyway, the real scandal surrounding the Royal Sussex page has to do with a warning Meghan allegedly received from Buckingham Palace.
Insiders say Meghan was forced to take a class on proper social media etiquette prior to starting the page, and she was cautioned that the Queen’s lackeys can order her to delete the page at a moment’s notice if she steps out of line.
“Palace insiders are worried that she will be a loose cannon,” says one insider.
Specifically, there are concerns that Meghan will use the account to wage war on the tabloid press.
Seems completely out of character to us, but the royals aren’t exactly known for taking chances.
“This account cannot be a method for her to respond to everything she doesn’t like in the press,” the source claims.
“They are not going to have a royal Instagram war on their hands.”
As you’re probably aware concerns about Meghan’s etiquette crop up about once per week, and they’re pretty much always this insulting and pretentious.
Sources say the timing of the Instagram launch couldn’t be much worse, as tensions between the Duchess of Sussex and her in-laws is at an all-time high.
Just yesterday, it was reported that Meghan has been banned from wearing Princess Di’s jewelry as a sort of punishment for violating the royal code of conduct.
Could it be that Meg’s return to social media is intended as a sort of middle finger to the British bores seeking to keep her in check?
If so, we applaud the duchess for her pettiness.
