Real Housewives Of New Jersey: Teresa Giudice reveals she and husband Joe turned to IVF and ‘tried to have a boy’ before birth of their youngest daughter

Teresa Giudice opened up about her personal past in Wednesday’s episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey.

The 47-year-old mother of four girls told her co-stars that she and her estranged husband Joe once turned to IVF to try to have a boy but the process didn’t work.

During the episode the Skinny Italian author’s sister-in-law Melissa Gorga and her husband, Teresa’s brother Joe, also looked into having another child.

‘We tried to have a boy,’ Teresa said. ‘We did the in vitro. They put three embryos in me.’

She added: ‘I didn’t even get pregnant.’

Joe and Teresa, who are currently estranged following their his and hers prison sentences and his deportation, are parents to daughters Gia, 18, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 13, and Audriana, 10.

The RHONJ star explained that they tried to have a boy before eventually getting pregnant with their youngest.

‘Let’s just do it the natural way,’ she recalled. ‘And we did it and it was Audriana, another girl. So we weren’t meant to have a boy.’

Melissa, Teresa’s sister-in-law, also told her friends she and her husband were considering having another baby.

The episode began with Melissa at the gynecologist with her husband as they considered adding to their family.

During the rest of the episode tensions flared between Teresa Giudice and Margaret Josephs as the ladies were in Jamaica celebrating Jennifer Aydin’s birthday.

The issue began when Margaret made a joke the women interpreted to be a reference to Teresa’s time in prison and friendship with a much younger man.

The women were all rum tasting in Jennifer’s palatial hotel room when a bottle of 21-year-old liquor was presented to them.

‘She likes a minimum age of 21 Teresa, she doesn’t like jail bait,’ Margaret cracked as the rum was distributed.

The room immediately became silent.

‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ Teresa asked.

Margaret insisted she didn’t mean anything by the comments, and the women moved on to dinner – or so it appeared.

Margaret privately insisted to Melissa the remarks were innocent, and not a reference to Teresa’s past in prison and friendship with Blake Schreck, a 26-year-old she was seen holding hands with recently.

‘The liquor was 21-years-old, that’s what I meant!’ Margaret told Melissa.

‘You and I both know by saying the age and jail bait,’ Melissa remarked.

Melissa speculated Teresa was just ignoring the comment – for now.

‘I think Teresa is in vacay mode and letting this go,’ she said, adding she was certain her sister-in-law would ‘explore’ later after sitting on it a while longer.

Both Teresa and her husband Joe served time for mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud, though were allowed to serve their sentences in succession so the children would have a parent at home.

An Italian national, Joe is currently in Italy awaiting the final decision in his deportation case after his green card was revoked following his prison release in March.

So understandably, the remarks hit a touchy spot.

Glimpses of the impact the prison sentence has had on her family were given throughout the episode.

Upon landing in Jamaica, Teresa called her daughter Milania, knowing she was missing her father.

At one point in the episode, Teresa revealed her daughter Gia had developed a rash because she had been worried about her father.

Meanwhile, back in Jamaica, the ladies moved on from rum tasting to dinner.
