These Are the Key Colour Trends You Need to Know for Spring 2020
It’s interesting to reflect on the way that colour can impact a culture. Remember when all anyone could talk about was millennial pink? And then subsequently its brighter, edgier younger sibling, “Gen Z” yellow?
For 2020, Pantone—the authority on all things colour—has declared we’re going back to basics with Classic Blue being given the ever-illustrious title of Colour of the Year. According to the company, the shade was selected as it represents calm, confidence and “highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation” as we begin a new decade.
Aside from this timeless shade, for spring 2020 Pantone has predicted that we’ll also see vibrant hues of flame orange and fiery red, as well as heritage blue, a soft iris yellow and a deep shade of dark green. Unsurprisingly, we’ve already seen these predictions translate on the runway, as the spring/summer 2020 collections were filled with each of these unique colourways.
