Vicki Gunvalson: Bravo Can’t Demote Me! I’ll Just QUIT!
It wasn’t so many weeks ago that Vicki Gunvalson was swearing that she’d never be a mere “Friend” of the Housewives.
Unfortunately, it seems that she spoke in haste. When the Season 14 trailer aired, Vicki was barely there to be seen.
So how is she handling this demotion? Not well at all, it seems.
RadarOnline spoke to an inside soure about Vicki’s much feared demotion to “Friend” of the Housewives.
According to the insider, the OG of the OC is “crushed!”
And it sounds like she’s not planning to cling to the show’s coattails as a part-time star.
“Vicki doesn’t know what to do with all this free time,” the source characterizes.
“And,” the insider adds. “She is very sad.”
Vicki has had months to brace herself for this outcome, but she spent that time trying to keep her orange rather than prepare to lose it.
“She’s been trying everything she can think of to win back her orange,” the source shares.
“But,” the insider admits grimly. “She is starting to see that it is a lost cause.”
After reigning supreme over the entire Real Housewives franchise for so long, getting told that you’re no lonnger relevant is no easy thing to hear.
As a result, the source says, Vicki has found herself in a major “major slump.”
“She is just very bummed,” the insider characterizes.
“But,” the source argues. “She did this to herself.”
It sounds like the report is suggesting that Vicki might have had an easier time keeping her orange if she’d been a little nicer.
“Tnd she knows,” the insider says. “That the only way to get back on the show is to fix the burnt bridges that she already burned down herself.”
Whoops. When you run out of friendly faces, you run out of helping hands.
“The fact of the matter,” the source asserts. “Is that Vicki has already screwed too many people over.”
“Because of her diva attitude,” the insider continues. “She thought that she was untouchable.”
Her diva attitude and her lengthy reign. Keep doing something long enough, and you forget that it might stop at any moment.
“She thought she would never get axed,” the source says. “And she was wrong.”
Vicki had hoped that, through personal milestones like her engagement and also by being a holy terror on set, she could retain top billing.
Some stars take a demotion, even if it’s a little humiliating, and just roll with it.
After all, being a Friend of the Housewives is still a extraordinarily good job.
Famously, when Bravo tried to demote NeNe Leakes years ago, she declined — taking the season off.
Ratings slumped on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and when NeNe returned, she was making more than sh ewas before.
To date, NeNe is the highest paid of any of the Real Housewives — a powerful reminder of what producers almost lost.
Is Vicki planning to pull a similar move for next season?
We somehow suspect that Vicki is on a different path, now.
Maybe she needs to pick up some hobbies since she will no longer be constantly on camera.
Vicki might also get to spend more time with her beloved grandchildren.
No starring role lasts forever, but Vicki still has her whole life ahead of her to do whatever she likes.
