Frankie Muniz to document NASCAR career with new series

The former child actor will not only be pursuing his dream but invites viewers along as he navigates the hardships of starting his career.

He’s going from Malcolm in the Middle to Frankie in the Fastlane. The star of the late 90s Fox comedy, Frankie Muniz, has announced that he will be starting a career as a NASCAR driver. Now, The Hollywood Reporter has the story that the former Agent Cody Banks will be collaborating with NEO Studios to produce an all-access documentary series about his foray into his dream job of becoming a racer.

Frankie in the Fastlane will allow viewers to follow Muniz as he transitions from being a former child actor to entering the NASCAR world in the ARCA Menards Series. He will be putting himself up against the best stock car racers in the world to prove he has what it takes and show that this isn’t just a pipe dream. We will also get a look into his personal life as he tries to balance his new pursuits with his family as a new father and husband while he deals with public scrutiny of being a high-profile figure making his professional debut. The series is currently on the hunt for distributors with networks and streaming services.

Muniz elaborates on attempting to realize his dreams of racing, “I’m proud of my past accomplishments and for being remembered as Malcolm, for example. It’s a great feeling to have made an impact on people in that way, but when I’m in that seat, in the car, and on the track, I know in my soul that racing as a professional driver is what I was made to do. I’m excited to partner with a company like NEO Studios that really understands sports and competition programming and to bring viewers along on this crazy journey and share my love of racing with the world.”

NEO Studio head, Mike Basone, adds, “Frankie put everything on the line to pursue his passion and become a professional racer. That alone is inspiring, but he also had to overcome countless obstacles — including injuries, media scrutiny and more — to get where he is today. NEO is drawn to telling unique sports-centric stories that showcase human triumph and we’re truly honored to follow Frankie on this quest.”
